The fire extinguishing bottle-filling nitrogen generator refers to the process where purified and dried compressed air at a certain pressure undergoes pressure swing adsorption. Due to kinetic effects, oxygen and nitrogen diffuse at different rates on the surface of carbon molecular sieves. Oxygen diffuses much faster than nitrogen on the surface of carbon molecular sieves. Before adsorption reaches equilibrium, oxygen is largely adsorbed by the carbon molecular sieve, while nitrogen is concentrated and enriched in the gas phase, achieving oxygen-nitrogen separation. Since the adsorption capacity of carbon molecular sieves for oxygen varies significantly with pressure, reducing the pressure allows the desorption of oxygen molecules adsorbed by the carbon molecular sieve, enabling its regeneration and repeated use. The system is equipped with two adsorption towers, with one tower undergoing desorption and regeneration. An imported PLC controls the cyclic alternation of the two towers to ensure continuous production of high-quality nitrogen.
Process Flow of the Fire Extinguisher Bottle-Filling Nitrogen Generator
The entire fire nitrogen generator system mainly consists of an air compressor, filters, dryer, switching valves, adsorbers, an air storage tank, and a nitrogen storage tank. The raw air is pressurized by the air compressor, passes through a primary filter into the cold dryer for drying treatment, and then enters the air storage tank via a high-efficiency oil removal filter. The dry, oil-free clean compressed air first passes through an activated carbon adsorber and then enters two alternately working adsorption towers. These towers are filled with high-quality and efficient carbon molecular sieves. Due to the difference in molecular size between oxygen and nitrogen, the molecular sieve preferentially adsorbs oxygen under increased pressure. After a period, the adsorption of oxygen by the molecular sieve reaches equilibrium. Based on the characteristic that carbon molecular sieves adsorb gases differently under varying pressures, reducing the pressure allows the molecular sieve to release the adsorbed oxygen. Meanwhile, the other adsorption tower begins pressurization and starts working. Through the alternating operation of the two adsorption towers, a continuous flow of nitrogen is obtained. The produced nitrogen passes through the nitrogen tank and flow meter, and after sampling and qualification testing, it is delivered to the rear usage points. For higher requirements, a purification device can be added afterward to obtain nitrogen of superior quality.
Application Scope of the Fire Nitrogen Generator:
Due to its properties such as non-conductivity and pollution-free nature, nitrogen serves as a clean fire-extinguishing gas. It is effective in combating Class A, B, C, and D fires and is suitable for extinguishing fires in underground warehouses, subways, railway tunnels, control rooms, computer rooms, libraries, communication equipment rooms, substations, key cultural relic protection areas, and other locations. Nitrogen is widely available and cost-effective. However, since using nitrogen for fire extinguishing requires reducing the oxygen content in the fire area to achieve the purpose of extinguishing, it is primarily suitable for unmanned or sparsely populated areas where rapid evacuation is possible.
